The Opera House Players will hold open auditions for Blithe Spirit on January 13 & 14 at 6:30 PM.
Director: David Beck
Auditions will take place at the Opera House. Please enter through the side parking-lot door (up the four steps). Performers will read selected scenes from the show to audition.
All are welcome to audition — whether you’ve performed with us for years, stepped onstage somewhere else, or have never acted a day in your life. No experience necessary! Please bring a list of your conflicts (dates you’re unavailable) from January through the performance dates.

About the Show
Written by Noël Coward, Blithe Spirit is a fast-paced, witty comedy about a novelist who accidentally summons his late wife during a séance. When the mischievous ghost decides she’s not ready to leave, chaos follows — especially for his very living (and very annoyed) current wife. Expect sharp humor, spirited encounters, and a delightful blend of the supernatural and the absurd.
Character Breakdown
Charles Condomine – A smart, charming novelist in his 40s–50s. Curious and a bit smug, but not prepared for the mayhem his supernatural experiment creates.
Ruth Condomine- Charles’s current wife. Practical, proper, and determined to keep life under control — until Elvira shows up to make that impossible.
Elvira- Charles’s first wife… who happens to be deceased. Playful, dramatic, flirtatious, and delighted to cause trouble from beyond the grave.
Madame Arcati- An eccentric medium with big energy, absolute confidence, and a flair for the mystical. One of the show’s most iconic comedic roles.
Dr. Bradman- A friendly, somewhat skeptical doctor. Good-natured and often caught in the middle of the chaos.
Mrs. Bradman- His enthusiastic and easily excitable wife. Enjoys the idea of a séance perhaps a bit too much.
Edith – The overwhelmed maid. Eager to please, often dashing about, and a great source of physical comedy.
